Meet The Hour, London’s brand new wellbeing hub

May 14

The person behind London’s brand new pop up wellbeing hub, The Hour, is the former marketing director Jazz Sandhu. Jazz is the founder of a wellbeing consultancy of the same name which has the invaluable mission of incorporating wellbeing into the workplace culture.

After I followed the Hour on my personal Instagram account, I received a message inviting me to try out a class of my choice. How lucky! They say it’s because I was their 200th follower but, to be honest, I suspect that my grumpy Instagram’s bio that includes the words ‘London’ and ‘hater’ on the same sentence probably raised some concerns about my wellbeing.

I checked their class schedule and immediately signed up to a 1-hour Hatha Yoga class on a Saturday morning. The class was at 11am and, thankfully, not at some ungodly hour because this yogi here is definitely not an early riser.

Located at the 02’s Icon Outlet, The Hour’s pop up looks like a real-life Instagram account. The studio is modern, minimalist and as harmonious as a happy mind free from any distractions.

I was welcomed by Jazz herself and the teacher, Ashley Bailey, who started the class with pranayamas, or breathing exercises, before moving to a slow-paced flow based on the legend of Shiva and Matsya (The Lord of the Fishes).

The practice was very grounding including some backbends, twists and gentle sun salutations.

Ashley’s soothing voice and clear instructions put students at ease and her spot on adjustments give confidence to yogis of any level to make the most of their practice.

I left the class as if I was walking on clouds, feeling invigorated and ready to start my weekend.

So welcome to ma ‘hood The Hour, it’s nice to have you here!

The Hour offers Cardio, Strength and HIIT, Yoga & Flows, Mindfulness classes, talks and workshops and you can pay for classes individually or buy a class pass.
